I’ve been wrapping presents on and off all day. Tom is preparing my car for carrying kayaks down to Florida. Can you believe I don’t even have my tree up yet? I’m not even sure it’s going to happen this year 
Too much other stuff to do!!! Tom being gone for two weeks in December (first England, then Texas) didn’t help our timeline.
I’m looking forward to a nice quiet week at work.

I know, I’ve been neglecting you.
I guess there’s a lot that’s new but since it’s almost the New Year, I am going to make you a promise. From now on I shall keep you more updated via this blog.
I have a million things to do before Christmas. I’m not even done shopping yet, not even close to thinking about wrapping things, and although we are driving down to Florida after Christmas (with kayaks! We’re gonna kayak with the manatees!!!), I have not even thought about all the packing I have yet to do. So I’m a little bit holiday-stressed.

A few weeks ago, on Good Friday to be exact, we gained two new members of our family. Tom had discovered two domestic bunnies hopping around in the woods near our house. With several owls flying overhead, and darkness coming, we rescued them. To make a long story short, we caught them with a fishing net, put them in an old chinchilla cage we had, and put up some “found rabbits” signs in the neighborhood. Well, nobody claimed them and I was kinda glad, because they’re really cute.
We named the black one Lucy and the orange one Lily.
Wednesday, we left for Tom’s business trip to DC. I came along for a mini-vacation. We got home yesterday to find that Lily had given birth to a litter of six. So now we’ve got EIGHT bunnies we don’t know what to do with.
Anyone want to adopt a bunny or three in a few weeks?

My Christmas tree and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Mom, Bill, Kathy, and Colby are all here, so I’ve got quite a full house for the weekend. I don’t mind a bit though, this is actually a lot of fun. The turkey is cooking and Tom is on his way home from his parents’ house.

Here’s a closeup of my hand and its leaves/flowers..
And WHAT ARE THESE PURPLE THINGS??? It’s driving me crazy. They’re almost 2 feet tall and I have no clue what they are. At first I thought they were just a ground cover, but they GREW. A lot.
Anyway, there’s plenty more where that came from, feel free to email me if you want to help identify more stuff. Here are some things that need no identification.

Would you like a spring tour? Of course you would!
We have lilacs.. they’re an interesting color, dark purple. These came with the house, as did a white lilac that I noticed yesterday. We planted two lilac bushes back in the fall but they’re not doing much yet as far as flowers go.

Anyway, on to the front yard.
We have a dogwood tree but it made exactly one flower this year. Weird. Anyone know why that is?
A strange mushroom popped up in front one day. It’s kinda scary but it does seem harmless…
There are nifty hostas too…
When we moved in, Tom wanted to tear out some of the bushes in the front of the house, but I convinced him not to. I said we should wait until spring to see what they do. He relented, and it turns out that they’re not “just crappy box bushes” but are, in fact, azaleas. We have a dark red one, a pink one, and a white one. They’re just starting to flower.
Last but not least, we come to the “fauna”.
We have zillions of frogs. Yesterday Tom found 5 different kinds in the grass out front. Last week I happened to be kneeling down and saw two baby newts. But the frogs are definitely cool. Tom was even kind enough to bring me two of them. They were cute in his hands until they jumped out and hopped around my kitchen. Boys are silly.
Anyway, I got a picture of the tree frog he brought in. Here he is, but not on a tree.

In the next video, you can hear me telling Tom “It’s in the pool”. He didn’t believe me, but once it got dark, the noise from the frogs was crazy. We took a flashlight and went over to the pool. There were at least a dozen (that we could see!) hanging out on the pool cover, which is full of water. I’ll have to take a video of them one of these nights. This is new, I guess the frogs just recently discovered the pool.
